Grading

EXPLANATION OF ACADEMIC EXPECTATIONS

1. Homework:
* Counts for 25% of your grade.  Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday.  You must read 30 minutes a night.  If you read below grade level, you must read for 45 minutes.

2. Late Work:
* Is accepted but at the loss of one letter grade per day.  Certain projects will not be accepted if they are late.
* If you’re absent and the absence is excused, you will not be penalized for late work, provided it is completed and turned in on within the proper time (one extra day per absence).  It is your responsibility to turn it into the late/make-up work basket.  I will not ask you for it.

3. Participation and class work:
* Counts for 25% of your grade.
* Failure to complete class work will affect your grade.
* Students are responsible for caring for textbooks, dictionaries, workbooks, handbooks, computers, etc. Failure to do so will result in a lowered grade and additional consequences.

4. Grading Scale:
* Tests (including Holt district tests) and quizzes count for 25% of your grade.
* Projects (including AR) count for 25% of your grade.
